My students need a projector in our classroom for learning via multimedia activities.

My Students
In our society, we are preparing students for their real world experiences. Technology abounds us and unfortunately, for my students, this is not the case. For my students to compete, it is direly important for them to be exposed to the greatest amount of multimedia devices possible.
In our classroom, we have a strong culture filled with respect and morals.
My students attend a Title 1 school in Maryland and they are eager learners. All my students have different personalities and that is what makes my class so great. The eclectic mix of students exposes others to new cultures, new understandings, and new ideas, which I steadfastly harbor and shape into teachable moments. These students are prepared learners who have already expressed interest in going to college in their future. They are driven, motivated, and relentless in achieving their goals. The classroom is a safe and calming environment for the students; consequently, the students minds are traveling down a road to success. We are caring, supportive, and nurturing of all ideas and we hold the "Golden Rule" to the highest accord. Our classroom is inviting place of teaching and learning.
My Project
Using a projector in the classroom will bring a wealth of resources into the classroom. My students struggle with reading; on average, they are one to two years behind grade level. Luckily, I have access to a wonderful intervention program, Reading A to Z, which is designed to quickly raise students' reading levels up to grade level. Within this program, there are many "projectable" books, where students are able to concentrate on a specific consonant or vowel sound while reading a book that is at their level. However, I do not have the advantage of projecting this book for the entire class to see, which would be advantageous for formative instruction. Through these "projectable" books, students will be able to come up to my laptop and highlight key words and show their understanding of the letter sounds. Additionally, for math, there are a wealth of games that we can collectively work through, as a class, using the projector.
Your donations will be promoting student learning and achievement within a classroom of students who are motivated to learn.
This donation will help students grow exponentially with their reading levels and will make math lessons more interactive and inviting to all. Additionally, my students have no technology resource period so by introducing my students to projected images and resources, they will have a holistic understanding why using multimedia is a truly important skill.
