My students are a product of the 21st century. They are surrounded by technology in their everyday lives. My 8th-grade, social studies class is filled with 13-14-year-old students. They are compassionate, energetic, inquisitive, and persistent. My students come from different socio-economic backgrounds. Some students live in lavish homes while some students are homeless. I have students that are receiving services because they have a learning disability/difference and others that are English as Second Language learners. No matter their background or obstacles to learning, I want all my students to have access to tools and resources that can make learning easier for them.
My Project
The classroom projector that we had in class lacked clarity, and recently went completely out. It is unable to be repaired. I send out an email daily to see if a teacher is not using their classroom projector, or borrow a projector from a teacher during their planning time to help facilitate my Social Studies lessons for my students.
A new projector will give the students a better interactive learning experience.
I use an Elmo to project our interactive notes and to model student work. This helps our think-pair-share routine and enhances classroom discussions. I also use the projector to present Power Point presentations.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
