Projecting a bright future for students with Autism!
My students need a projector, a cable, and cart in order to access interactive lesson presentations, motivation for learning, and visual support.

My Students
Children with autism have many learning challenges that can be overcome with the right supports. They need more visual support than typical children to access the curriculum. They sometimes need to learn in a separate environment, but it's important they have the same access to tech their peers do!
I teach a group of seventh and eighth grade students with Autism in an urban middle school.
The odds are stacked against my students, yet they never give up. All of them are working towards a goal of full inclusion with their peers. They are sweet and hard working, and deserve an education equal to their peers and to experience the joy and pride of being successful in the classroom.
My Project
I love technology and so do my students. With this projector, I'll be able to create motivating and visual presentations in Prezi to use for instruction. Students with Autism tend to "think in pictures" and for them, a picture truly is worth 1,000 words. A moving picture is priceless for motivating students who have previously failed to experience success.
ClassDojo is a free program I will be able to use with the projector to award students for on task behaviors, which will enable them to practice expected behaviors at school so that they can be included in mainstream classrooms.
Finally, a projector will give us access to everything on the Internet. Students with autism have difficulty with abstract thinking. Some of our units will be hard for them to understand without having strong visuals to look at. My students have lower reading abilities than their peers, so this will also help us access text on their level.
The possibilities are endless with your support!
My students deserve the best.
They have disabilities, but can still achieve success with the proper instruction and support. We need all the advantages we can get so that my students can have the same opportunities as their peers!
