My Students

I am a speech language pathologist in a low-income, high poverty school district and work with students in Kindergarten to 8th grade. I support students in a wide range of classrooms including a Multiple Disability Support Classroom, Autistic Support Classrooms (K-2, 3-5 and 6-8), a Life Skills Support Classroom, and an Emotional Support Classroom.

I want to provide my students with the opportunity for interactive learning to increase their engagement while addressing their individual speech and language needs.

My Project

The students I support are multi-modal learners and are academically successful when they have repeated practice through multiple learning modalities. Technology is becoming an important part of the way students learn. With a story, picture or video projected for my students, they could be the "teacher", practicing their good communication skills while explaining their answer, asking questions of others in the group, and responding to questions.

By donating to my project, you will help to increase student attention, in addition to help to increase their academic achievement, particularly related to their communication skills.

Projecting 'brain breaks' and kinesthetic movement paired with communication opportunities will provide the students in the Multiple Disability Support Classroom, Autistic Support Classrooms, Life Skills Support Classroom, and Emotional Support Classroom interactive learning opportunities while working on their individual speech and language goals.
