Project Requesting the Power My Learning Family Engagement Innovators Program

Help me give my students access to hummingbird robotics kits to engage their creative engineering and robotics skills.

My Students

“The first step in teaching students to innovate is making sure that educators have opportunities to be innovators themselves.” – Suzie Boss. My goal as an educator is to push innovative thinking and hands on learning for my grades 3/4 combination class.

My brilliant students love to work in teams and create new things to demonstrate their learning.

My students do a lot of partner work, hands on science, project based learning and presentation skills. We already use programs for codings that each student works on at their level, and one dot and dash robot for coding to help in math and computer science.

My Project

The Hummingbird kit has everything you need to build robots, complete with motors, lights, and sensors out of recycled materials.

Students use the kit to make robots, kinetic sculptures, and animatronics built out of a combination of kit parts and crafting materials.

The hummingbird kit allows students to show their learning by creating complex robotics design opportunities through an innovative, arts and crafts-based approach. For example, students will research a human body system and then create model to present to the class to explain how their robotic model illustrates the way that the body system functions.The possibilities of what students can create are endless!
