Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
In order to provide scholars with a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity, we need alternate ways to inspire reading in the school library.
We are asking for t-shirts saying Read, Return, Repeat. The shirts will encourage kids to grab a book and read about the climate and environment as they reflect on their part of positive change. After doing reading and a book trailer they will get a shirt! Thank you for your time, consideration, and support of school libraries and children.
More than half of students from low‑income households
