Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children. My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 23 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
This virtual author and artist visit will show kids that anything is possible. The author will virtually demonstrate the writing process and how good ideas are developed. The illustrator will show kids through Zoom how to get all their creativity out and challenge themselves to produce each day. They will learn to persist and work through blocks of writing and drawing when they feel as if they are stumbling. Through visual presentation and interactive engagement, Justin, the illustrator, will encourage hands-on creativity, artistic learning, and fun with the ultimate goal of producing their own books.
Let's raise the bar and ask our kids to start creating instead of consuming. I am teaching the next Steve Jobs and need your help reaching them all! Thank you for your time, support and consideration of public-school!
