This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'd like to set my students up to be successful next year. I have some supplies, but not everything they'll need.

Some families don't have the resources and even more don't know what their child will need in middle school.

This project includes only the most basic essentials that students will need for the next three years. Paper and pencils are not enough anymore. Students will have to organize their assignments both digitally and with hard copies. One third of my class has individual education plans (special education), but the plans do not specify organizational needs. They will not receive any help in this area.

The ruler/hole punch item was crucial when I was in school since some teachers do not hole-punch their papers. Since it doubles as a ruler, students will have a straightedge for math and science.

The binders are 1.5" rather than the typical 1" that students purchase. This is imperative since students will need additional room for the ruler, the pencil pouch, and the dividers.

Dividers allow students to separate their papers by period and subject. Since this is the first time they will have multiple classes, these will provide some structure in their new world.
