My students need current, relevant, and diverse texts to engage themselves as active, independent readers within the classroom. The texts listed above are carefully selected from student, teacher, and my own reviews.

My Students
I teach various groups of 5th graders at a charter school. My students come from diverse backgrounds along with diverse interests in reading. Most of all, my students LOVE reading books of their choosing, and books that interest them!
Students interests range from sports to fashion, mystery to current events, and all in between!
My students enjoy reading graphic novels and various chapter book series. Most of all, my students enjoy being read to and hearing a great book! It only takes one great book to catch a great reader!
My Project
In today's world reading is essential; however, reading is not always the most important in our lives. My goal is to engage my students by adding relevant, current, and diverse books to my classroom library for students to interact with and read. Students will use these books everyday to strengthen and solidify their reading skills for their futures!
Reading sets the stage for everything to come in life; it is important that students build a high-interest in reading at an early age!
Topics range in these texts from history, race, mystery, suspense to hysteria, and beyond! These materials will make an impact on students by allowing them to fall in love with reading!
