My Project
Project Create and Educate aims to advance the awareness and passion of the environment through economic and community education.
Because the kids in my classroom are learning an elective, they choose to be there.
It is not a required class but a class that is usually chosen by students to breakaway from their core classes and explore their creative freedom. My classroom is a haven for sensory and exploration through food. I take particular pride in making sure the classroom is visually satisfying, aesthetically satisfying, and intellectually satisfying.
The items on this list such as the light covers and led light tape will enhance the mood of the students as they often complain of the harsh lighting associated with the fluorescents overhead lights. We have made feeble attempts to cover the with construction paper fixed with tape, but they constantly fall back to the floor.
I also have digital scales and a Ninja Blender that will add to and multiply the amount of healthy recipes possible in my classroom. I am often asked to provide snacks or food as alternatives to the students mediocre cafeteria lunch. As a nutrition teacher and classically trained professional Chef I am against the notion of giving students the usual packaged snacks full of sugars and GMO ingredients.
It would be so much more beneficial to be able to provide the students with fresh smoothies and soups or homemade breads created by our very own Cuisine students, given that I have the equipment.
The fulfillment of this list not only will be of great value to me and my classroom but will provide agency to the students as they empower each other through their creative outlets!
