This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each of my advanced placement students enters their junior year full of excitement. I intend to meet that excitement with quality experiences that expose them to what the American Dream is all about.
These students are high achieving juniors and seniors that have succeeded at an exemplary level on the Global Regents exam in their sophomore year.
They have been selected to be members of the Advanced Placement American Studies program due to their drive and thirst for knowledge. My students come from different sections of New York City and represent many ethnic and racial groups. The one unifying academic factor is the need for challenging courses for growth as scholars. Also, they all come from families that are struggling financially.
My Project
Each year my students complete a research project called Project Citizen. They choose an issue that they think should be fixed by the local or state government. They devise a plan and preset this to a committee. This year we are goi g to renter the New York City contest and need to make the best presentations possible. These tools will help us not only produce great presentations but we will present winning presentations. Wit your help our projects will shine next to the others. And we all together will be productive citizens.
