My Students
In a democratic republic such as the United States, citizen should be concerned when other citizens do not know their rights, responsibilities, and ability to enact change. That is why my students participate in a semester-long public policy proposal project using the Project Citizen curriculum.
My students are high school seniors that are on the path to graduation and need to know the power they have as citizens of this country.
To teach this, I give my students the opportunity to practice being a participatory citizen by proposing public policy to solve a real world problem that they care about.
My Project
The culminating event that showcases their work is an evening event where local, state, and national politicians come together with other local dignitaries and community members to give hear the students' proposals and offer them professional feedback. This event is often where many students get connected with real people who also care about their project's topic who can help them officially enact their public policy in the community/world.
There are a few office supplies we need to run a successful Showcase.
Your donation could help my students be one step close to officially enacting their public policy and bringing positive change to the world while empowering them to be active, participatory citizens. Thanks you for your support!
