This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a low income school district and a school in which 97% of students are considered to be living below poverty level, my students are not exposed to high end technology and STEAM activities. Many of my students face academic challenges and household financial challenges.
Brownville, Texas is a border city of Mexico, some of my students come and go every day to Mexico.
Some of my students have to wake up as early as of 5:00 in the morning just to get to school on time. This however, does not stop my students from learning and from always trying to do their best. Expectations, are still set high and they know there are no excuses not to excel. My students are humble, friendly, charismatic children. Each one of my students is special in their own unique way. My class consist of 19 incredibly amazing students. Of those 19 students 14 are English Language Learners, 2 are artistically gifted and talented.
Our school believes that every child is capable of learning. Our goal as a school to educate our students so that they can become productive citizens in today's and tomorrow’s society.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of a color printer. Throughout the year our students are given STEAM projects to complete but unfortunately, our classrooms do not come with a printer. When working on a project, it is very difficult for the students to access a printer outside of school and even throughout the day on campus. Having a printer available for them in the classroom will facilitate their project completion.
Students will be able to use and operate the printer throughout the day, this will allow students to learn on how to use the printer, as they will be creating postcards, informational brochures, letters along with their own creative artwork once scanned and uploaded on their interactive notebook.
Giving my students an opportunity to print their assignments on the classroom, will ensure release stress to them, because they wont have to worry where they will be printing at.
