Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This donation will help a great group of children. Although a small class, they have grown together and are eager to learn about the world. We are a part of the first school in South Carolina to focus on children with Dyslexia and specific learning disabilities. One of the great things about these students and their families is how committed they are to getting the necessary education for their children. Many of our families are scattered throughout Upstate SC and drive long distances daily.

For 7th grade, we are learning about world geography including physical features, political divisions, and global statistics.

These portfolios will be used to showcase students' Country Profile Projects, where each student creates a "Wikipedia" like page with some descriptions, basic information, and images. Students will do this project a number of times through the year as we cover various regions. I will have a separate portfolio to house all students work categorized by region and serve as our classroom World Encyclopedia. They will use these portfolios to look back on previous work and improve based on achievement and feedback. Students enjoyed these projects and this gives students a sense of ownership and responsibility.
