Programming With Raspberry Pies (Not The Food)

My students need programmable and inexpensive computers to learn how to use various programming languages every day.

My Students

These students with diverse thoughts are extremely dedicated to learning new things. On my first day of class I gave the students a box that contained over one-hundred robotic pieces. In about four days, these students not only completely built the robot, but they also programmed it as soon as it was up and running. I knew that as soon as this was built, this class was going to be an extremely fun class to teach. These students collaborated with each other despite their differences. These students used these differences to their advantage, the diverse thoughts of these students is what built this robot.

My Project

These materials will help these students in various way and will make a difference to these students of mine. For example, this project will help these students collaborate in many different ways. Teamwork will be needed for this project to work, and these students are going to learn how important team work is in the "real world". This project will help broaden the ideas of different career paths that can be taken in the future. I have already had students come up to me and say that this AP Computer Science class has completely opened their eyes on the different career paths to take. We want Raspberry Pies because they both come pre-loaded with python and scratch which are both coding languages that I am trying to teach these students. Practicing on these Raspberry Pies everyday will enable to exercise software development skills.
