My Students
Team S.T.E.A.M. (Super, Technological, Extraordinary, Advanced, Mathematicians) and the S.T.E.A.M. Dream Team are the pilot First Lego League Robotics teams for my school which serves a significant population of students using Title 1 services.
These 20 students are blazing a new path for introducing a strong S.T.E.A.M.
program for the school. Next year, we hope to extend the program to the elementary grades. These student pioneers are actually training to become the mentors and leaders for our future Robotics teams and the overall S.T.E.A.M. initiative.
My Project
Our two First Lego League teams are currently sharing one robot. In order to properly train the teams on robot design and programming, and for students to prepare for competition in December, 2017, we would like at least one robot for each team.
We need two EV3 Lego Mindstorms Robots for students to program and design for the upcoming First Lego League competition.
Students will learn basic coding skills with the Lego Mindstorms software and improve critical and global thinking skills through the problem solving related to the First Lego League competition challenges. Obtaining two more robots will allow our teams to have one robot each for practice and developing programs. One robot will be reserved for competition.
Obtaining these robots will boost team confidence and morale and will instill in them a sense of school pride and community, because someone they may not know believes in their learning, growth and success. This is a request for two of two robots. Thank you!
