Professional Scientists in the Making: Clipboards for Lab Success!
Help me give my students clipboards, binders and role tags to take notes so they can work collaboratively and collect lab data in a more organized, professional way during hands-on science investigations.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are enthusiastic and hands-on learners who thrive in active science investigations. Many are newcomers and English learners who are building not only academic knowledge but also confidence in expressing their ideas. They are creative, curious, and eager to engage in real-world science experiences that make learning come alive.
This project is focused on providing my students with a class set of sturdy clipboards.
These clipboards will give them the ability to record data, observations, and reflections while moving between lab stations and working in groups. Having a hard surface to write on allows students to stay organized and professional as they collect evidence and complete investigations.
We conduct a variety of hands-on activities where students model scientific concepts, and clipboards will support a smoother, more efficient lab flow. They’ll no longer have to balance notebooks on their laps or scramble for space—this simple tool will elevate their learning experience and help them feel like true scientists.
Why This Project Is Important because note-taking and data collection are essential scientific skills. With proper tools like clipboards, my students can focus more on the process of inquiry and less on managing materials. For many of them, especially English learners, having structure and organization boosts confidence and engagement. This small investment makes a big difference in helping students work professionally, think critically, and develop ownership of their learning.
