My Project
Many of my students advance to the Regional Science Fair every year.
In addition to their Science Fair papers and boards, they are required to create a professional video explaining their projects to the judges.
This needs to include photos from their experiment, as well as video of them talking about their procedures, data, results, etc. Most of my students don't have the technology to create these videos at home, and use their school Chromebooks instead. The camera quality isn't good, and they have a hard time trying to import images and edit the video to make it look more professional. An iPad will allow them to film their explanation and take photos using an exceptional camera. They will then be able to piece everything together and edit it using iMovie to create a professional video to impress the regional judges. My students will be able to borrow the iPad during Science or Advisory hours, and film in a quiet location like a conference room or the library. I believe this iPad will improve our performance in the Regional Science Fair and build the confidence of my students.
The iPad can also be used to create Science podcasts, video blogs, and to meet through Zoom with different scientists. I can use it with an Apple Pencil to fill in notes projected on the Smartboard during class discussion, so my students can follow along in their notebooks. This iPad will be used every day in some capacity. It will be invaluable to our classroom!
