The idea of being a professional and published writer is an idea thought to be unobtainable by young writers. However, giving students a small blank book to write in, each child will experience the joys of writing. Each student will be able to gain pride in their individual and creative work.
Every day is a new day in our classroom.
As we work to obtain the understanding to help us become life-long learners, my students are never stifled by thinking inside the box. Their previous and expert knowledge about a variety of topics allows them to work above and beyond expectations. My students need a variety of ways to express their ideas and emotions, and I believe writing is the key to sharing our feelings.
My Project
I remember when I was in elementary school. I thought the best project we ever did was writing our own books. We used our previous knowledge to draft, edit, and revise our stories to create a wonderful book that I still have to this day. These stories help me see how I advanced as a writer, and I want to create that same memory for my students now. By donating to this project, each of my students will receive three different bare books to write in. These books will allow the students to publish different stories throughout the school year.
My creative and well rounded students need every opportunity to be able to express themselves in a creative fashion.
Writing our own books is a great way to encourage students to be writers and use their unique ideas to build a story that expresses their unique ideas.
