My Project
I am requesting funding to attend the Orton-Gillingham Plus professional development course offered by the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE).
The purpose of this grant is to provide me with the opportunity to participate in the Orton-Gillingham Plus training, which will equip me with evidence-based strategies to support all learners in my classroom.
This professional development aligns with our school's commitment to providing equitable literacy instruction and addressing the diverse needs of our students.
The Orton-Gillingham Plus training is a comprehensive, 30-hour course that covers the essential components of literacy, including phonology, decoding, spelling, and the structure of the English language. The training is grounded in the latest research in the Science of Reading and is designed to meet the needs of students across all tiers of instruction.
Objectives:
To gain a thorough understanding of the Orton-Gillingham approach and its application in the classroom.
To learn and implement structured literacy lessons that address the needs of students with reading difficulties.
To enhance my ability to assess and support students with dyslexia and other reading challenges.
To share the knowledge and strategies acquired with colleagues to improve literacy instruction school-wide.
Attending this professional development course will directly benefit my students by providing them with high-quality, research-based literacy instruction. The skills and knowledge gained will enable me to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment, ultimately leading to improved reading proficiency and academic success for all students.
I am committed to continuous professional growth and am eager to bring the benefits of the Orton-Gillingham Plus training to my classroom and school community. I respectfully request your support in funding this valuable professional development opportunity.
