Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a low socioeconomic school in Southern California where all students receive free lunch. My students are special because they are in a bilingual kindergarten class. Seventy percent of our day is in Spanish and 30% of our day is in English. I have 24 students with different needs, personalities, and learning modalities. Most of my students are English language learners, but I do have English speakers who want to learn how to read and write in two languages. How awesome is that?
My Project
I am an educator constantly seeking opportunities to grow professionally. The Design Thinking Institute will provide an opportunity to improve on my ISTE standards for educators. I will learn the best practices for my students to meet their own ISTE standards as well. This institute will help both my students and I become empowered learners, digital citizens, collaborators, communicators, innovative designers, creative thinkers, computational thinkers, empathizers, goals setters, global citizens, risks takers, real-life problem solvers, and so much more. I am a kindergarten teacher who wants to set the foundation and instill these positive mindsets at a young age that will eventually lead to a better future.
