Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
Julian and Vanessa are the two student athletic trainers that are constantly working hard to encourage their peers to learn more and be better! They have an extreme passion for sports medicine and community service. They are the embodiment of citizenship at its finest!
These two students dreamed up the project by thinking about their everyday experiences in the athletic training room. They thought about the question of the day and about the questions they were facing with athletes, injuries and treatments. Then, they brainstormed materials that would help them find answers to these daily questions.
These students will be using the materials for two purposes. The materials will assist the students with content on sports medicine topics. This will help them within their sports medicine classes as well as provide a stronger foundation for them as they enter college. The other materials will help them with their professionalism. The lanyards will provide a home for their event staff IDs. This will be needed for them to be able to volunteer. By teaching them that they must carry the identification, it will teach them responsibility and professionalism.
In Their Own Words
We are trying to increase the amount of information we know about athletic training. We have tasks that we need to complete and the books will help us by giving us a place to research answers to questions we may have about sports medicine. The materials will provide additional resources for information.
We were able to pick out the exact materials we wanted, so it will help to motivate us to learn more and apply our knowledge during our volunteer hours. Also, we know exactly what we need and how we learn. This means that we have a better understanding of what we need to be successful. We plan on working together to improve our question of the day answers and also to learn more about rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
We have a ton of athletes, so the materials will help us to better serve our peers. We will be better in our classes and will be able to help Miss Erin more when she needs us to. We will also be ahead of our classmates in terms of the information we know about athletic training.
