My students need 8 types of preserved specimens, both mammal and non-mammal, including 20 cow eyes, a cow spinal cord, 10 frog anatomy and dissection sets, 10 sheep brains, a rat and pig specimen, and a fish set.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. l.'s classroom raised $725
This project is fully funded
Our school was started the fall of 2006 and serves students in grades 6-12. Those students who enter do so with little or no formal education. Additionally, our students come with little or no background in English.
Many of our students are extremely bright and have an intrinsic motivation to learn and go far in their educational path. Our students need to process content and language.
We have five science teachers this year in our building and not one of us has actual dissection materials or animal models for students to compare. For example, our class with compare/contrast the spinal cord of a cow to that of a human being. Another example of a lesson we will use will be to view an online dissection of a frog and then actually perform a live dissection on a frog.
In order to prepare our students for college, we need to have hands on materials and have rich visuals. Our students inspect each and every detail of the class. It is unfair for them to pass through hallways and see science materials used by other students and not them. I want my students to feel like they too are worthy of such materials, resources and equipment. They have ideas and want to explore and come with much enthusiasm into classes. I want to make sure that their enthusiasm and expectations are met.
We need hands on models of preserved organisms both mammal and non-mammal including a cow eye, cow spinal cord, frog anatomy and dissection set, sheeps brain, rat and pig skeletal, and fish set.
Your help will ensure student success and teacher morale for an inquisitive and positive learning environment.
