My Project

Our students will examine the evidence supporting explanations of continental drift and plate tectonics, the two most important geological theories. Students will first construct a layered Earth replica that demonstrates our planet's structure. Next, students will replicate the formation of the three types of rock and discover how heating, cooling, compression, and weathering create a perpetual rock cycle. Then, they will explore, map, and measure the forces that result in earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain-building. Finally, students will end with modeling the explosive events that make plate margins, especially the Pacific Rim's Ring of Fire, the most volatile area on Earth.

Experiencing our planets patterns of change safely and in the classroom is our highest priority.

These items will bring innovation to our classroom and give us the opportunity to experience large scale changes in the safety of our classroom.
