My Project

Tech has transformed the modern classroom by outsourcing so much of our students' education to digital media. While teachers can curate their students' experience through a vast collection of incredible apps, interacting with the world largely through screens is detrimental to our youngest students.

The sensory and spatial learning that children experience when creating art in the physical world is crucial in TK.

The unique tactile experience of painting or working with clay is important in building the fine motor skills they'll need as they learn to write. Painting as a group on large easels helps build community among students, gives them the opportunity to experience creating on a large scale, and promotes development of gross motor skills.

With the proper art toolkit, our kids can transcend generic, product-oriented worksheets and let their creativity and curiosity guide their incredible journey through TK. Your contribution goes toward tempera paint, an easel, playdoh, watercolor paints, paper and tools to build our art center.
