This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are dynamic, creative, expressive, and eager to learn. Attending one of the only Fine Arts Charter Schools in the Houston area our students receive FREE training in the Arts that they otherwise may not be exposed to. Our school works tirelessly to provide our students with opportunities that their socioeconomic status, neighborhoods, and surroundings may not afford. Our students come from diverse backgrounds with various learning styles and abilities. We are a Title I school and recently many of our students experienced firsthand the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Our school was not spared either; and cause great strains on our school budget. Despite the trauma of this natural disaster our students are ready to tackle this school year and have the mindset that even with losing personal belongings that they still have the ability to gain knowledge and wisdom.

My Project

I'ts time that our classrooms don't look like we are stuck in the 1970's. The materials that I'm asking for, like balance balls, stools, a carpet, and comfy pillows, will provide an alternative to seating. My students will have a chose on what makes them feel comfortable. No child learns the same and they need to own there classroom. We may even have group desks, and not arranging them in rows and columns, we as teachers need to encourage children to stand up and move around at least every hour. With having all these different type of seating I will be able to allow my students to do so.
