My Project
As a high school math teacher who teaches AP Calculus AB, Probability and Statistics, and Math Analysis, I’m developing a desktop application that will revolutionize how teachers generate curriculum materials for statistics.
Unlike existing platforms like Kuta Software, which offer limited support for Probability and Statistics, my app allows teachers to create custom worksheets with randomly generated problems on statistical topics such as mean, median, and more.
Each worksheet includes editable LaTeX formatting, multiple delivery types (free response, multiple choice, word problems, etc.), and an automatic PDF preview — giving teachers total control over both content and format.
To build this app effectively, I need a MacBook Pro with the power to:
• Run Python development environments like PyCharm and Jupyter smoothly,
• Compile LaTeX documents efficiently using a full TeX distribution,
• Render PDF previews with high accuracy and visual clarity,
• And manage Git-based version control for ongoing updates.
The MacBook Pro’s unified memory, optimized chip architecture, and excellent battery life make it ideal for handling heavy compilation and code testing during the school day and after hours.
This tool will not only save me hours each week — it will directly benefit every Probability & Statistics teacher in my district. I plan to share this app as a free resource across my school system, enabling colleagues to generate aligned, varied, and scaffolded problems that reflect their pacing and pedagogy.
