Pro-Active Decision Making in the School Community!
I need to attend this virtual class to bring additional strategies that will provide my students with the best learning experience with mestract Brook University.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the Library Media Specialist in a K-5 building, I am in the unique position to work with all students (and teachers!) in the building for several years. This comes with the pleasure of watching my students grow and learning what modalities they learn best with. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love reading diverse books, participating in maker space activities and STEM challenges and are very curious. There are over 1,400 students in our school! I have a large population of English language learners. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are both general and special education students. They are all amazing kids! This virtual course will teach additional strategies to learn from student behavior and give them an even better learning experience.
The course will meet virtually once per week and while the main focus of this course will be to help articulate the interrelationship between leadership theory and practice and promotes the philosophy that future school leaders should be pro-active.
The course deals with administrative decision-making behavior in the context of a community. Students will use simulated materials that reflect the problems and issues of a school district. Political, social, and economic pressures, the educational needs and the establishment of high expectations for staff and students performance are considered, as well as the establishment of systems of rewards and recognition. The use of group dynamics in the decision-making process is emphasized.
All of the knowledge gained from this course will be utilized in my classroom and shared with my peers as well. Together we are better.
