My Students

I teach 23 first graders in a low-income/high poverty district in East Texas. My students come from working families that value education but do not always have the resources or educational background to provide reinforcement of skills learned at school. When they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. Despite the challenges both in and out of the classroom, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are clever, imaginative and very spontaneous.

They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. They deserve the best education possible. These students need materials that will help keep their interest and motivate their desire to learn. I have taught first grade for 6 years and been a member of ATPE. I love what I do and love ATPE.

My Project

My students work very hard to move up their clip on our color chart. They strive everyday to try to make it all the way to pink at the top. When they made it all the way to pink they get out of our class treasure box. We need more prizes for incentives because they work so hard each and every day. I want them to be able to have choices in the treasure box so each student can strive to get something they will really enjoy. I love to see students encourage each other to make good choices and to use the seven habits of a great leader.
