My Students

My name is Ms. Gipson and I’m a third grader reading and language arts teacher. This is my first year teaching. I am excited to get my classroom going and hope to make it student friendly and welcoming to everyone! I love organization and preparation. I also know students thrive in a well organized class, so having this will help build my classroom and make it manageable for all my students.

My Project

I am requesting incentive which include fidgets, squishy toys and snacks. At my school we started something where we will be implementing incentives weekly for AR. This is third grade so these students have to pass the MAAP-ELA Assessment in order to go to the fourth grade.

During small group work students will have 20 minutes daily to read a short book and take an AR test on the book.

There will be a goal set at the beginning of each week for students to meet by Friday. The incentives will change weekly to keep students excited and motivated to read. This will help the students with fluency, accuracy, and comprehension.

Examples of Incentives

Week 1 Incentive: 10-15 extra minutes of recess at the end of the day on Friday

Week 2 Incentive: Lemonade and cookies with Mr. Watson

Week 3 Incentive: Prize out of Treasure Box and extra recess
