My Students
Do you remember what it was like when you were trying to focus on your writing assignment or do your best on a test? My current home-made privacy partitions are almost 10 years old, and cardboard and library tape just weren't meant to last that long!
The students in my gifted/high ability magnet classroom come from very diverse backgrounds, both ethnically and socioeconomically.
School is a great equalizer. I love watching my students find common ground and work together in spite of their differences.
My Project
As a teacher, I love having my students interact with each other. They are often the best teachers a student could ever ask for. But other times, peace and quiet, and a distraction-free zone called for. With 24 students in a classroom - and possibly even more in the near future, considering the dismal state of the economy - personal space is at a premium. Privacy partitions are a great solution. They are easily set up, then just as easily taken down and stored. This allows for flexibility in the classroom arrangement - and are invaluable tools when a little oasis of peace, quiet, and no distractions is needed.
The privacy boards are just what my students need to help them learn how to focus on the task at hand so that they can do their best.
This is a skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives!
