it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 1st-grade special and general education. My classroom is always full of love, learning, and laughter! The students always love to play, learn, and care for one another. They love coming to school every single day. However, with the location of the school, the students face many adverse situations every single day. Most of the students live in shelters, foster homes, and city housing projects. Some of the students come into a class upset in the mornings because they didn’t get to eat, or their clothes don’t fit, or they simply don’t have a pencil.
However, with all those adversities, these amazing students come in with loving arms, eager to take over the world with their love and knowledge.
My Project
We are teachers in a self contained classroom where focusing during test or assignments could sometimes be a difficulty for some students. We noticed that if they had some privacy, it would be much better. We borrowed a set of the privacy dividers from another classroom and the students did so well during their test! We decided as a class to try to purchase them but they were too expensive to obtain. We are hoping we could get this project funded so our students could concentrate and succeed with the privacy of their privacy dividers.
