This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Just like adults, students face outside stressors that can impact their academic success. As a School Social Worker, I am there to ensure equitable education opportunities; ensure that students are mentally, physically, and emotionally present in the classroom; and promote respect and dignity for all students. Many of the students I work with lack stability, emotional support and positive adults in their life. They struggle to regulate their emotional needs and often rely on fidget toys and snacks to calm them during sessions. The books will assist me in the social/emotional work that I conduct with my students and other things that will contribute to providing an inviting and confidential space for students to thrive.
