Printmaking Supplies for Middle School Artists

Help me give my students printmaking experiences that will open their minds to new art techniques and processes.

My Project

I teach art at a prekindergarten through 8th grade school on the west side of Chicago. Many of my students haven't explored many art materials and techniques beyond what we have available in the classroom. I try hard to plan projects that provide them with a comprehensive and exploratory approach to learning about all art mediums.

As a special project for my middle school students I would like them to design a personal logo and then print their logos on both paper and fabric.

I think they will love designing and printing their own logos and shirts! This would teach my students about a new printmaking process and provide them with employable skills for their future. Many of my middle school artists enjoy doodling original characters and nicknames. My students also take a big interest in fashion. By combining these two interests, they will take their designs and turn them into both original art and printed clothing.
