This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach students in Los Angeles that are amazing human beings who need to see themselves reflected in their curriculum. Many of my students are newcomers, and those who are Los Angeles natives alike, need to have a diverse array of books available to turn them into students who love reading. The more they find awesome books, the more they love to read.

My students are curious, smart, quick learners.

I hope to enhance their learning with your generosity and kindness.

My Project

We are writing poems and it is so beautiful to have students make a simple illustration to accompany them. Basic printmaking is therapeutic and a lovely accompaniment to text. Just like in your favorite books, students will get to create colorful and creative images on foam that they roll over and print.

Students want and need more art, and our classrooms shine when we take the beautiful text our students create and accentuate it with their images.

We are also making chapbooks, which as simple collections of poetry, would be awesome with graphics.
