This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have great students; they're funny, inquisitive, and hard working. I teach students with diverse special education needs. Some of my students have learning disabilities, autism, or have been diagnosed with ADHD. They are all unique in their own special way, but they al have something in common, they love to learn. I am so excited to be a Distance Teacher this year. I am passionate about my special education students. I believe that they deserve the same opportunities no matter where they come from. They come from diverse backgrounds with different experiences but most importantly with different academic needs.
During this time, I want to provide as many resources as possible to meet their academic needs.
But in order to do that, I need access to a color printer.
My Project
Did you know that the majority of students are visual learners? I know I am! Whether it is new and bright markers, crayons, or color ink on white paper. Color is an important and effective tool in the classroom, because it helps students achieve their best. It can be used in many ways. For example, we can highlight important ideas and information, differentiate between two concepts, or just save them from boredom as they read sight word books. It can also be used to add “pizzazz” by inserting images to essays. Printers can be used to print their hard work and display it, which is very motivating for students.
I truly believe that knowledge is power.
I also believe my students can change the world! They just need the right tools. As a teacher, I am dedicated to empowering my students to be the best they can be personally and academically.
Teaching virtually has been very hard. It has been especially hard to encourage my students to complete their work. Having the ability to print color material such as certificates and awards could be the ticket to help them during this time.
Having this eco printer would be beneficial because it uses ink tanks instead of ink cartridges, which hold more ink and create less waste. Also, the ink is much less expensive compared to ink cartridges. I would like the ability to print their work, print supplemental materials, certificate and awards to send home.
