Have you ever worked so hard on a project, and then when you went to print, the printer was broken once again? This disappointment is how my students feel all the time.
This year I have 25 adorable first graders who are eager to start learning!
We have a computer lab students attend once a week, but I am trying to incorporate computer skills into the everyday classroom as well. Many of my students have computers at home, but for some, the classroom is the only place they are going to learn these vital technological skills.
My Project
It is never too early to learn computer skills. That is why I have my first graders start typing their first writing project right away. They even learn how to change the size and font in a Word document. It is the worst feeling to see their pride crumble when they want to show off what they have typed and the classroom printer is broken. I have even had students who chose to spend their free-time writing their parents a letter and inserting a picture from the Internet into the Word document. I was so impressed they remembered how to do that on their own, only to become devastated when they went to print the project they had worked so hard on and the printer was once again broken. Throughout the year we do so many classroom projects on the computer that a working printer is a must!
My students need a working printer and extra ink in the classroom!
Having a printer in the classroom is vital for both students and parents.
A printer allows students to feel a sense of accomplishment as they can print work they typed. Many times a student asks for another copy of the homework or a parent needs to copy his or her drivers license in order to go on a field trip. Being able to make those copies in the classroom would be such a time saver. This is why your donation will not only go towards a printer but a printer that copies as well.
