My Students

"To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the inner music that words make." ~Truman Capote One of my goals this year is for my students to be able to hear the inner music that their words make when they write and develop a passion for the art of writing.

My classroom consists of thirty-one third graders; twelve girls and nineteen boys.

They are wonderful children that have a passion for learning. My students are good at math but need a lot of additional support and encouragement when it comes to reading and writing. The majority of my students are English Language Learners which is why my reading and writing instruction is so important. There are seven languages spoken by my class, not including English.

My Project

My students will be able to use the printer in our classroom to help with various projects and activities. The first activity that the printer will help with is their weekly writing assignments. Throughout the week they pre-write, draft, revise, edit, and publish their writing. They are currently handwriting their published copies. Printing them on the computer will help them have more pride in their work and allow it to easily be read by others. The printer will also help my students with various research projects they do throughout the year. Many of my students do not have computers and printers at their homes so having a printer in the classroom will allow them to have access to the information they need without having to hand write the information on their topics.

Donations to this project will help my students have more pride in their writing.

It will also save valuable learning time by allowing the students to print information rather than copying it from the computer screen.
