My students need a new classroom printer/copier. The children love to have copies of their writing to display in the classroom. We also use the copier to provide extra copies of classwork for the children.
The students who attend our school are students from diverse backgrounds. Many attend our school from outside of our immediate area specifically because of the location in a small mountain community. They come because we are a Certified Wildlife Habitat as designated by the National Wildlife Federation and we utilize our outdoor areas to enhance education.
The Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds and all are learning to read, write and draw.
We often us a classroom printer to make copies of their writing and drawing so they can take the original home and we can display samples of writing in the classroom.
The Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten range in ages from 4 to 6 years old. They are artistic, curious and creative children who enjoy learning to write their first "books" complete with illustrations.
My Project
Having a classroom printer/copier enables us to make extra copies of classwork if students want to redo a page or just have a chance to practice by completing another copy of a page. This is important as the students are gaining confidence. My students need to feel that they have opportunities to improve.
My students enjoy making their own books utilizing their newfound writing skills.
They always want to take a copy home, but also enjoy having their books and stories on display in the classroom. Having a classroom printer/copier enables us to make copies of their books and stories promotes self-esteem and encourages writing.
