My students need tools (ink, print blocks, paper making kits) for making handmade paper, they will use block cutting tools to print original designs on to the paper they have made. I have 110 students.
Art students learn best by doing! We are a small school and we have just added an art program that teaches 7th-12th grade. Our budget is very small but we are very eager to do big projects and show our skills.
Our school is located on an Air Force Base and most of my students move around from country to country or state to state.
Many of them have not had art in elementary school. It is my job to catch them up and grab their hearts in the process. My students love seeing their work and take pride in their accomplishments, this project will allow them to create their own paper from scratch, cut out designs and then print them.
My Project
My students will make their own paper in class, dry it on our racks and then using the EZ cutting blocks they will design and cut out their own ideas to print on their papers.
Imagine their joy and pride when they begin making their own projects.
We will use these supplies in our Art history for Egypt and Asian art forms. By making ink blocks to print with we will capture their imaginations during the Asian (Japanese) wood block prints. The room will be filled with interesting Japanese themes that they created.
The supplies and tools we are asking for are reusable and will last a long time.
This will provide years of art projects do to their hardy design. We are focused on reusable products so that we do not waste supplies, fill land fills and create more waste then art. If we make paper from cloth fibers, scrap paper and seeds we then continue to work in earth friendly ways in our room.
