My Students
I teach Intro to Animation I, 2, and 3 and Art Design AB in a suburban neighborhood. My classes are populated by college-bound students who are engaged, career-minded, energetic, and creative. Students create culminating projects that require them to interact with clients and collaborate with group members similar to what they would experience if they were working for a professional design/animation firm.
My students are motivated and excited to learn and explore the different career pathways that are available in the Art and Media Career Pathway.
My Project
I was so fortunate that the amazing supporters of Donors Choose funded a DNP printer for my classroom but what I did not realize was that the printer did not come with the ink or the paper. I am now requesting the paper and ink for my students to create a 3-dimensional image. Students will create an interlaced image in Adobe Photoshop; print the image and then would place a Lenticular lenses onto their image. These lenses are really great way to teach students the different kinds of Lenticular effects such as Flip, 3D Depth, Animation, Motion, Zoom, Morph, etc. Additionally, learning this process helps students strengthen their understanding of Photoshop technical skills, design, and their execution of their design. But the only way this can happen is if students have access to a 4x6 photo printer and paper/ink. This process is a very new emerging technology in both in design, photography and animation fields.
