My Students

Vibrant colors printed on card stock to enhance our observation charts for our ProjectGLAD units. That's just one use I'll have for this toner.

I teach a group of energetic and inquisitive 5th and 6th graders who have a passion for learning.

Each one of my students has a different home dynamic. Some live in houses, some in apartments, and others in mobile homes. Some live with just their immediate family, while others live in tight quarters with several generations. My goal is provide them with the best materials and opportunities to challenge their young minds.

My Project

I'm requesting a new toner for our printer. While we've cut back in recent years with the amount of printing we've been doing, we're always in need of high-quality prints for our observation charts. We use these observation charts to help introduce new units in science and social studies. Students study various pictures to give them some insight into what the next unit is going to cover. It's an inquiry activity and elicits a variety of think-alouds and peer dialogue. However, the toner is incredibly expensive. It eats away at our school budget and makes us think twice every time we hit "print" on our computers. If we could have a toner cartridge donated to our class, that would save me from worrying about the cost of each picture printed. The students enjoy this activity and I would have to go without printing these pictures and using them as a teaching tool in the classroom.

The donations toward a new toner cartridge will allow me to continue to print various documents and pictures for my students.

In particular, I will be able to continue to search for and print picture for our observation charts that we use with our science and social studies units.
