Printing For Academic Achievement!

My students need a multifunction printer and some ink to complete various literacy activities in class.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, I see that my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. We spend a big part of the day together, and one of my goals is to always provide them with authentic, meaningful experiences on a daily basis.

My students are inquisitive, curious and very eager to learn.

They love to learn about new things and especially love hands-on activities. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, some of these things may prevent them from acquiring the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk into my classroom my job is to not only teach them but to make their day a memorable one. I want them to leave my class on a daily basis thinking "learning is fun".

My Project

I work in a school of 1200 children and over 100 staff members. There is only one copier for the entire staff. Many times due to over usage it breaks down. This can be so stressful!

Having a multifunction printer would be put to great use in my classroom and would benefit all of my students. My students are always engaged in various projects.

When they need to print something in color from the computer they are unable to because we do not have a color printer in our classroom. My kindergarten students love to learn about everything. They are so curious. They especially love to learn about different animals. When we are working on a research project on a particular topic they are unable to print pictures to go with it due to the lack of resources that are required for activities such as these. Other times, I would like to make copies of their finished work to send home so their parents can see their accomplishments but once again I am unable to because we do not have a copier in our class. A multifunction printer would be a huge asset to our classroom and would be used daily.
