Printing Community Kindness

Help me give my students the opportunity to design and create small, meaningful keychains using a 3D printer. This project will equip students with hands-on skills while enabling them to spread kindness in our community.

My Project

Our high school students are bright, innovative, and eager to use their skills to make a difference beyond the classroom. Many of them are enrolled in Career and Technology Education pathways and thrive when given real-world, hands-on projects that connect learning to service. They are excited to show leadership and responsibility while creating something meaningful for younger students.

We would love to bring a 3D printer into our high school classroom so that students can design and create custom keychains to gift to local 8th graders as a way to encourage positivity during their transition to high school.

Here’s how the project will make an impact:

High school students will learn 3D modeling and printing skills while practicing problem-solving, design thinking, and precision.

Students will create personalized keychains with inspirational words, school spirit logos, and symbols of kindness.

The keychains will be gifted to 8th graders as a small but powerful reminder that they are supported and welcomed as they prepare for high school.

This project ties STEM learning to a community outreach initiative, giving students a unique opportunity to see how their technical skills can directly brighten someone’s day.

What We Need

Classroom 3D printer

Filament in various colors

Basic finishing tools for completed keychains

The Impact

By creating something as simple as a keychain, my high school students will strengthen their design and STEM skills while also building confidence in their ability to lead with kindness. For 8th graders, receiving a handmade gift from older students can help them feel excited and supported as they approach a new academic chapter. With your help, we can turn technology into a tool for connection, kindness, and inspiration.
