My Students
Being the Mental Health Coordinator, one of my main responsibilities is to address the needs of the "whole child" and treat every student holistically. My students come with varying needs, and over 90% belong to impoverished homes. Their diverse cultures, needs, and experiences mean that one size does not fit all when it comes to guidance and counseling.
Due to their parents' economic status being impacted by the COVID pandemic, and the fact that these children attend a Title I school where resources are limited, basic needs such as access to school uniforms and school supplies are always ongoing issues.
At my school, I wear many hats and I facilitate a vast diversity of students' and teachers' needs alike. Currently, the capacity of my school budget has been limited and challenged due to the impact of Hurricane Irma. As the school counselor, I take a very active role in my students' lives. I visit classrooms daily and give presentations that build character and educate the students about hygiene, core values, and social behavior.
My Project
We need an HP multi-functional printer and ink/toner for our students. If this printer project is funded, our students will have unlimited access to literature that they could print out. We would also need extra ink cartridges as there would be numerous pages of materials printed to accommodate all of the students I serve.
With a colored multifunctional printer, I will be able to create and print out dynamic instructional materials needed for them to improve.
I have been told that in the past, my students were limited because there were no hard copies or insufficient materials to share. A printer in our classroom would mean that every child could access hard copies of their work.
