In this school year my second grade students have worked very hard on becoming better writers. In the process of becoming better writers they have also worked on publishing some of their work on the iPads or computer. They have taken great pride in their work.
My students come from diverse backgrounds.
I see the world in many different perspectives when working one-on-one with my students. Some students have a tough home life and don't always find the best way to verbalize their thoughts and feelings. A great way for my students to express themselves is in their writing and especially illustrations.
My Project
I would utilize the printer to print off the students' published writings. My students take more pride and ownership in their work when they are able to see the masterpiece they created. Throughout the year the printer would be utilized, as well, to print materials that are essential to their learning.
The printer will help them immediately see their published work, versus waiting till someone can run to the main printer.
It will also take the frustration out of writing that some students experience. Sometimes students that struggle with writing are able to speak their story into a dictated app. With a printer in our room they will be able to immediately print off their writing. They won't have to fear it being lost or deleted before being able to connect to the main printers
