Printer for SPED: Funding for a Department in Need

My Students

N High School's Special Education Department is a place of respect, caring, and determination. Our experienced staff work with students with all types of mild to moderate learning disabilities. We understand the challenges that come with working with special needs students and the individualized support they require to overcome their academic struggles.

Despite the challenges our students face, our primary focus is always to help our students harness their strengths and achieve their goals.

With the right tools, anything is possible. We teach our students strategies to help them succeed in school and life, which includes organization, time management, and self-advocacy.

Having the opportunity to watch these young adults grow into happy, successful individuals is why we teach!

We would love to tell you more about our students, as well as include photos of our classrooms in action, but confidentially prohibits what we can make available to the public. Our students' privacy and security is a top priority in our department. Thank you for understanding.

My Project

The Resource program of the Special Education Department is in serious need of a new printer. Individual Education Plans include legal paperwork that must be presented in hard copy to families which requires a great deal of printing on a daily basis. Our printer is no longer functional, and due to severe budget cuts, the Special Education Department has no more funding for rest of the school year. Most classroom supplies are purchased by our teachers with their own money, but a new printer is something we can not afford to buy on our own.

The majority of our students print in our classroom.

We work with many students who struggle with organization and task completion. If students are asked to print in the library or at home, it will often not get done. By printing in our room, we can ensure that assignments are turned in immediately. We also often print multiple copies of large documents for student projects such as Mock Congress, or when students need to print out photos and text for posters. This means we need a quality printer and plenty of ink. Between the four teachers who share the printer, and most importantly all of our students, there are more than one hundred people who would benefit from a new printer and ink.
