Our classroom community is greatly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. My students are completing work at home via Google Classroom, Zoom, and Google Docs. We have a regular set schedule to meet on Zoom, and for the most part, students make every effort to attend.
My Project
I work with a group of hard-working students who are trying to make the most of distance learning. Typically technology gets in the way of students attending. Boston Public Schools has made a Chromebook available for every family which is incredible. As to be expected, sometimes technology breaks or sometimes screen time becomes overwhelming and stressful. Distance Learning has significantly increased the amount of time students are spending in front of a screen. Many families have requested printed materials to work on at home. Access to these printed materials would greatly minimize days, sometimes weeks, of not being able to access our online learning platforms or give students a different opportunity to practice their skills not in front of a screen.
