This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students vary greatly in their ability levels. Many of them are English Language Learners. More than 90% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students attend a school in one of New York’s most diverse school districts. The teachers in our school are committed to fostering high expectations, promoting positive attitudes and to achieving equity and excellence in a safe and nurturing environment. But, like many schools, our budget has been cut and we are in need of many supplies to provide for our students.
My Project
Like most teachers, I need a printer in my classroom. In the teacher world, printer and ink has the same value as bars of pure gold.
A quality printer is both one of the most overlooked and relied upon items in a classroom (even behind laminators!).
In a given year, my printer at home may spit out thousands of pages, photos, or copies. A printer in the classroom will allow me to create tests, worksheets and more during school hours. It would also allow my students to create work (documents, images, etc.) on a computer during class time to display or to submit as assignments to me.
