Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade in a Title I school. My students are at or below poverty level living in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. All of my students qualify for a free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 12 amazing girls and 10 "ready to go" boys. They enjoy being challenged academically and physically every day. They are in the Limited English Proficiency program levels 1 and 2.

My students are creative, inquisitive, hard-working, and eager to learn about the world around them, as well as themselves.

In the classroom, my students work in a whole group, independently as well as in teams. They encourage each other to grow and explore their wonderful world of learning.

My Project

Imagine my students spending hours on that well-crafted report or project — and the pride experienced when seeing the fruits of their labor in printed form or when receiving the proverbial gold-star of approval from their teacher. Equally, parents still want to proudly display their child’s handy-work on their fridge or at the office. Then, my students find out that I couldn't print their work because the school printer didn't have ink. At my school we teachers are not allowed to use the office printer, and we have one printer for thirty teachers!

With your generosity and kind hearts, my students will have that sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that comes from seeing their hard work in printed form.

My students need to be able to print projects, opinion papers, their beautiful narratives, and homework while I need to be able to print tests, lesson plans and the like.

A printer in our classroom will allow us to print students' and teacher's work when needed without having to jump through many obstacles. Thank you for considering our project for your generous donation.
